Ruth Borgenicht

East Orange, NJ

Ruth became interested in the creative possibilities of ceramics while working toward her degree in mathematics at Rutgers University. She was intrigued by the exploration and discovery of systems which became tangible through ceramic sculpture. Ruth explores interlocking chains in her work creating wall art, baskets and sculptures that are at once, solid and shifting and strong and fragile. Her pieces often transform and reconfigure with subtle twists to reveal variations on the theme of organic geometry and visual poetry.

In addition to her fine art sculpture, Ruth enjoys creating utilitarian pieces for her Woodlands Pottery Collection including hand thrown and carved jugs, vessels and trays. Ruth has a studio in Manufacturer's Village in East Orange, NJ and teaches ceramics at Montclair Statue University.
